LiDAR
What LiDAR adds.
LiDAR is a small depth scanner beside the rear cameras on iPhone Pro and Pro Max, starting with iPhone 12 Pro. It measures distance with light, out to about 5 meters.
- Live 3D scans. Walk a passage and watch the mesh build. Export OBJ, PLY or USDZ. Take a scan
- Automatic LRUD and splays. Left, right, up and down come from the scan instead of a tape. How it works
- Measure on photos and video. Every LiDAR photo and video frame carries depth, so you can measure in it later. LiDAR photos go up to 48 MP on iPhone 14 Pro and later Pro models. Measure on photos
- Rangefinder and splays. Point and read the distance to a wall, ceiling or ledge, or shoot walls by hand as splays from any station. Rangefinder
- One per team is enough. The Pro scans; everyone else surveys. Scans merge into the shared project over AirDrop.
- Not on every Pro. iPhone 11 Pro has no LiDAR, and neither does iPhone Air, the e models or iPhone Duo.
