Bring in your team's data.
AirDrop a bundle from a teammate, pick up where someone else left off, or combine surveys from multiple devices into one project. Import works at the system level — SpeleoMap receives files from anywhere on the device — and at the project level from the Details tab.
← Back to WorkflowHow to Import
Receiving a bundle via AirDrop
When a teammate AirDrops a .speleobundle to your iPhone, iOS recognizes the file type and hands it directly to SpeleoMap — no Files app needed. SpeleoMap opens and prompts you to choose where to bring the data: merge it into an existing project or open it as a new project.
This works from anywhere — you don't need to be inside a project first. SpeleoMap handles the file at the system level and routes it from there.
Importing from the Details tab
From inside a project, tap Import at the bottom of the Details tab to open the import sheet. Pick a .speleobundle from Files or any accessible location. Choose merge or new project and confirm.
Import Modes
Merge into an existing project
Merge mode brings a teammate's data into your currently open project. All imported items — Map Lines, stations, scans, tape lines, annotations, photos, videos, and hike lines — are tagged with an import_ prefix so you can tell them apart from your own data at a glance.
Imported Map Lines are brought in at calibration State A — the sender's calibration data belongs to their project frame, not yours. Survey measurements are preserved; only the coordinate reference is reset.
Import as a new project
New project mode creates a standalone SpeleoMap project from the bundle — workout records, calibration history, entrance GPS, and all data preserved verbatim. The project name is prefixed with import_. Use this when you want to keep the received survey separate or continue building on it independently.
What Comes Through
Bundle contents on import
Both import modes bring in the full bundle contents:
- Map Lines. survey traverses with station positions and headings
- Stations. station data with survey math, remapped to the receiver's project namespace
- LiDAR scans. OBJ meshes with their anchor transforms, viewable immediately in the 3D viewer
- Tape lines. tape survey legs with derived slant, horizontal, and azimuth data
- Annotations. notes, hazard markers, and cartographic symbols, assigned to their stations
- Photos and videos. media copied into the project, anchored to their original positions
- Hike Lines. approach and exit trails from the sender's project
