Camera
Camera differences.
SpeleoMap uses whatever cameras your iPhone has and switches lenses as you zoom. Here's what each one adds underground.
- 48 MP main camera. Choose 12, 24 or 48 MP photos in Settings → Media. Phones with a 12 MP main camera shoot 12 MP.
- Ultra-wide (0.5x). Fits more of a tight passage or a big room in one shot.
- Telephoto. Zoom in on a high lead or a far wall without climbing to it.
- Macro. Close-ups of formations, fossils and cave life. The macro button only appears when your ultra-wide focuses close.
- LiDAR depth. On Pro and Pro Max, photos and video carry depth you can measure later. During a Cave Line the camera stays on the survey's tracking; lenses and flash come back when no line is open.
- Larger LiDAR photos. On iPhone 14 Pro and later Pro models, LiDAR photos can be 12, 24 or 48 MP, depth included: choose in Settings → Media → LiDAR → Photo resolution. The setting shows only the sizes your LiDAR camera offers. iPhone 12 Pro and 13 Pro take 12 MP LiDAR photos, and so does every iPhone while a Cave Line is open. What LiDAR adds
