Media
Photos and video.
How Media is laid out: Switches and photo sizes, then groups you open and close.
Photos sits at the top; it covers everything. Next comes Megapixels. Below it, tap a group to open or close it: Video, LiDAR (LiDAR photos and LiDAR video, on iPhones with LiDAR) and Thermal, the same way the camera has one LiDAR switch and one Thermal switch. LiDAR settings only show on iPhones with LiDAR. Thermal always shows, greyed out until a thermal camera is connected. Groups start closed. The camera itself: 6.1.1 Camera Basics.
Photos: A safety net if a project is deleted.
Also saves every photo and video to your Photos library as a backup. On by default; the project keeps its own copy either way.
Photos keep their LiDAR depth, project, station and caption, never your location. LiDAR video goes as a plain video; share it from SpeleoMap to keep its depth.
See 6.3.2 Tools, Import and Sharing and the Photos permission in 1.5.1 Permissions.Megapixels: Sharper photos or smaller files.
12 MP default, 24 MP sharper, 48 MP finest. 24 and 48 use the main lens only and take more storage. True Color and zoomed photos are always 12 MP. Shows on iPhones that offer it. See 6.1.2 Photo Settings.
Video: Balance file size, low light and compatibility.
- Audio: on by default; off records silent video.
- Low-Light: on to start. Slows 30 fps video to 24 or 25 fps in dim light for a brighter picture.
- Resolution: 720p, 1080p (default) or 4K. 4K shows more detail and uses about 4 times the storage.
- FPS: 30 (default) or 60 fps; 60 is smoother and uses more storage.
- Format: High efficiency (half the size) or Most compatible (older PCs and editors).
Action mode is the running figure at the top of the camera in Video.
See 6.2.1 Record Video.LiDAR: LiDAR photo size and measurable video, on iPhones with LiDAR.
- Photo: 12 MP default, or 24 and 48 MP where your iPhone's LiDAR camera offers them. Every size keeps the depth map; larger uses more storage. Zoomed LiDAR photos and LiDAR photos taken with a Cave Line open are 12 MP. Shows only when there is more than 12 MP to pick.
- Video: 1920 x 1440 (default), or 4K where offered, at about 4 times the storage.
- FPS: 30 (default) or 60 fps. 4K records at 30.
- Depth: how many frames a second you can measure on: 10 (default), 15 or 30, where 30 makes every frame measurable.
Settings your iPhone's hardware can't use are hidden.
Thermal: The thermal camera's picture and frame settings.
Greyed out, with Connect a thermal camera to change these, until a thermal camera is connected in Settings, Devices.
- Surface: the emissivity: Rock 0.95 (to start), Wet rock / water 0.96, Mud 0.94, or Custom 0.50 to 1.00. Each thermal photo keeps the value it was taken with.
- Clip: how often a thermal clip saves a full temperature frame: 1 per second (to start), 2 per second or 1 every 5 seconds. More frames use more storage.
- Scan: how many FLIR frames a second a ThermDAR scan saves: 2, 4 (to start) or 8. More frames, denser heat on the mesh, more storage.
Overlay is in Calibration settings. See Thermal Camera.
