2.3.1 · Hike to the Cave

Open and Move Around

Open a hike line, the map, the tool strip and measuring.

Open it: Review a finished trail from any angle.
Tap a hike line in the Action tab lists. Pick Map (to start), Plan, Profile or 3D. Where GPS was good the line is solid; where it was carried on by the motion sensors it's drawn as lower confidence. Home fits the view; the expand button opens the full-screen viewer.
Map: The view for checking a trail against real terrain.
The trail on Apple Maps. The map button picks the basemap: Standard, Satellite, Hybrid or Topographic. Tap a pin for its name and notes; press and hold to drag it somewhere else. Measure and Survey tools work here like Plan.
The tool strip: What each button above the view does.
Measure, Survey tools and Layers; full screen also has Home and the Profile Time | Distance switch. Taps snap to a pin, or else the trail; anywhere else says "Tap on the line or a pin".
Measure: Tools change from view to view.
  • Map and Plan: Single, Multi, Height.
  • 3D: adds Angle.
  • Profile: Single, Multi, Height and Angle on Distance; Height only on Time.
