5.2.1 · 3D Scans
Open and View
Open a scan, color and heat, tools, layers and quality.
Open a scan: Long scans open as one group.
Tap a scan in the Scans tab, or on its station's page. The viewer opens in landscape: one finger orbits, two fingers move, pinch zooms, and a tap hides the controls. Long scans show as one group (Continuous scan, N segments). A scan still processing shows "baking colors" and updates when it's done.
Thermal and Color: A ThermDAR scan opens on its heat.
A ThermDAR scan opens on Thermal: the mesh colored by temperature in your palette, with the scale (coldest to warmest) under the scan name. Color switches to the normal scan. The scale covers all but the warmest and coldest few readings, so a stray edge doesn't wash it out; parts no FLIR frame saw are dark gray. The hottest (red) and coldest (blue) points are marked with their temperatures; turn them off in Layers. A ThermDAR scan with no heat yet (from before an update) bakes it when you open it.
A spot clearly warmer or colder than the wall around it means moving air: a crack, a hole or space behind. Wet rock reads cold too; check it on Color.
The tools: Every button in the viewer and what it does.
Full screen, in landscape. Home (left) fits the whole scan. Down the right: Measure (ruler), Survey tools (compass), Slice (three panels; it shows a ring while a hidden cut is still on) and Layers, then the printer for 3D Print (ready scans only). A tap hides or shows the tools. The axis gizmo (bottom left) snaps to a view: tap a handle to look from that side. The scale bar (bottom right) follows your zoom.
Layers: Clear the view, or add north on anchored scans.
- XYZ gizmo.
- North mark: on anchored scans, with the gizmo on.
- Scale bar.
- Hot and cold spots: ThermDAR scans, on Thermal.
Manage your scans: Keep a long scan list in order.
In the Scans tab, swipe a scan to rename or delete it, long-press to share it, and tap its station badge to assign it to a station. Each scan carries its type's icon beside the name: LiDAR or ThermDAR (thermometer). The status color shows where each scan is: gray queued, yellow processing, green ready, red failed.
Quality: Pick before scanning; it can't change afterwards.
Low colors the mesh fast and small. Medium and High wrap it in a photo texture for a much more real model, at the cost of time and storage. Each scan wears a LOW, MEDIUM or HIGH badge. Set it in Scanning settings. Quality is set when the scan is taken.
