Scanning
Quality, splays, torch, segments.
Where it is: Why some phones don't see it.
Settings, Scanning. It only shows on iPhones with LiDAR, the ones that can scan (Take a Scan).
Torch: Hands-free light, at a battery cost.
Turns the light on when a scan starts, and when the camera switches to Video or LiDAR video. Off by default; the torch costs battery and heat.
Quality: Decide how real your 3D models look.
Low colors the mesh fast and small. Medium and High add a photo texture for a much more real model, but take longer and use more storage (View and Measure).
Splays: More shots mean more passage detail.
Extra wall shots saved at each scan's start and end stations. Left, right, up and down are always saved. Off, Standard (4, the default), Plan (8), Sections (16: every 45° in plan, cross-section and profile) or Detailed (24). None point straight along the line: the Cave Line is the leg. See Splays and LRUD.
Segments: Worth changing if long scans struggle.
Long scans split into pieces on their own: 250K, 500K or 1M points. Smaller is gentler on older or hot phones. See 5.1 Take a Scan.
