Badges
Soda Straw to Cave Pearl.
Tiers: How far each badge can go.
Most badges level up through seven tiers named after formations: Soda Straw, Stalactite, Stalagmite, Flowstone, Column, Helictite, Cave Pearl. The first comes quick; Cave Pearl takes years. One-time milestones are Easy, Medium, Hard or Rare.
Where to find them: Check your progress anytime.
Settings, Profile, Badges (Profile settings), next to your lifetime caving, hiking and training numbers. Tap a badge for what it counts, your progress, its tiers and the trip that earned it. A new badge shows a banner, but never during a workout, the camera or a scan.
How they count: Why a trip might not move a badge.
- From the trips saved on your phone. Delete a trip and its credit goes; discarded workouts never count.
- Caving trips earn caving badges, hikes earn hiking, Training earns training.
- Lengths use round numbers in your units.
- Honest survey: imported lines, Training lines, jumps over 100 m and lines moving faster than 3 m/s don't count.
The tracks: What each kind of trip can earn.
- Caving: time underground, long trip, expedition, depth, crawling, stooping, rope up and down, swimming, ThermDAR scans, thermal photos and videos, air readings.
- Hiking: time, distance, climb.
- Survey: Surveyor (Cave Line length), Explorer, Scanner, Photographer, Stations, Walls (splay shots), Symbols (map symbols placed), Tape (tape line length).
- Training: practice laps, rope time, running distance, crawl time (SRT, Running, Crawling).

The firsts double as a tour of the app: each one points you at a feature you haven't tried yet. Firsts (trip, hike, Cave Line, scan, LiDAR photo, splay, rope session, thermal photo, air reading, map symbol, ThermDAR scan and more), then Night owl, Full range, 1 km in a trip, 100 m deep, 100 m of rope, Regular, Team player (merge a teammate's bundle), Full kit (thermal camera, laser meter and air sensor on one trip), and the rare Cave triathlon (swim, rope and crawl in one trip), Ice cave (an air reading at or below freezing) and Full spectrum (a LiDAR scan, a ThermDAR scan, a LiDAR video and a thermal photo on one trip).
