Laser Meters and Instruments

Pair it, mount it, shoot.

Pair it: Set it up once before your first trip.
Settings → Devices: turn on Meter, tap Pair, switch your device on, tap Search for meters and tap it in the list. Test shot fires it. SpeleoMap remembers it and reconnects whenever it's on nearby (9.8 Devices).
Which devices: Check your model before your first trip.
Supported: Huepar S-series. In beta: Tacheo 2, Cavway X1, BRIC4 / BRIC5, Bosch GLM C, Leica DISTO, Disto XBLE, Mileseey and Stanley TLM99s. Each has its own page with setup notes: External devices.
Mount it: Mount it so shots line up with the phone.
Back to back behind the phone, both screens facing you, tops the same way. The laser leaves the top edge of the phone, so you aim the phone like a remote. Set the meter to measure from its front edge and mount it with that edge flush with the iPhone's top edge, so shots measure from the phone.

The meter pulls the compass a little: after calibrating the compass, mount it and run Meter in Calibration settings (see Calibration order).

Every device works the same: Why switching meters won't change your bearings.
Distance and inclination come from the device; direction always comes from your iPhone. A survey instrument's own compass bearing is saved with each splay too, for checking later.
Shoot: Two ways to use shots, plus button-only meters.
In the camera's Rangefinder, tap Meter on and Shot (6.4 Rangefinder and Laser Meter), or tap Splay in the DROP STATION menu to put shots on the survey (3.4 Splays and LRUD). Meters that only measure from their own button (Bosch, Mileseey, Stanley): tap Shot, then press the meter's button within 15 seconds.
Not listed?: Help get your meter added to the list.
Pair it anyway: SpeleoMap records what it sends, and Diagnostics sent from Settings, Support are how a new device gets added (9.4 Support).
