Export Models

OBJ, PLY, USDZ and more.

One scan: Fastest hand-off to a teammate, by AirDrop or any app.
In the Scans tab, long-press a scan and tap Share. It goes as a .speleoscan file that opens in SpeleoMap on any iPhone, by AirDrop or any share option.
3D formats: OBJ, PLY or USDZ for desktop 3D tools.
On the Details tab tap Export, set Send to Desktop, pick 3D and choose the scans and formats. They leave as one .zip.
  • OBJ + MTL: Blender, MeshLab, CloudCompare and most 3D tools.
  • PLY: the mesh with its color, for point cloud and mesh workflows. A ThermDAR scan adds a temperature on every point (°C; nan where no frame saw it), which CloudCompare shows as a scalar field.
  • USDZ: Apple's format. Opens in Preview, Reality Composer and AR Quick Look.
With the whole survey: Best for handing off a complete project.
Project bundles carry every scan mesh beside the Survex file and station data, ready for Blender, Survex, Therion or CloudCompare. See Export Formats.
Print it: Turn a scan into a physical model.
For a model you can 3D print, open the scan and tap the printer: see 3D Print.
Texture travels: No detail lost when you share or move a scan.
Medium and High scans keep their photo texture through save, import and export. ThermDAR scans keep their FLIR frames and baked heat in a shared scan, a project bundle and a package, so they open on Thermal for whoever gets them. The frames make those files bigger (about 50 MB a minute of scanning at 4 frames a second).
