Stations and Branches

Long-press the map to drop a station where you stand. They're named by line letter: A1, A2, and so on. More in Stations. Each station also saves a photo of the view, the way you faced and the compass there, which is how you get the calibration back after a crash.

Open a tool on a station (the camera, a scan, a splay) and the line holds on that station. Walk away with the tool still open (a couple of steps, a height change, or about 1.5 m from the station) and the line follows you again. When you close the tool, a held line carries on from the station; a released one picks up where you stand.

Tap End at the end of the passage. It asks first: End and save saves the Cave Line, Continue keeps recording. An end station drops itself. For a side lead, go back to the junction and start a new line (B, C...). Lines in one workout share an origin, so they fit together. Hands full? Use Stow Mode. Ending the workout ends any line or tape still recording.

Tap a line in the Action tab lists, or tap Manage, select several lines and tap View to see them together. Plan and 3D have a Ruler, Survey tools, Scans, Layers and View under the line name; Profile shows a Time | Distance switch instead. Layers turns stations, labels, leg and splay lengths, splays and tape lines on and off; View does the grid, compass and XYZ. Scans (the cube) draws the scans pinned to the line as points: Pick chooses them, BUILD draws them on the line, the eraser clears them. Nothing is saved, and the points clear when you leave the line. Every tool is in The Cave Line Viewer. Survey tools: Shot, Along, Height and Closure, plus Area in Plan. Home fits the view and the expand button opens a full-screen landscape viewer. Each measure bar reads Save, tools, Clear: Save keeps the readout as a note (Save Measurements and Notes).
