3.6 · Survey a Cave
Rescue
When a caver is hurt: the way out, and everything 911 needs.
One button: Works whether or not a workout is running.
Tap Rescue (the star) on the cave screen; with no workout running, it is the red star at the top right of the Action tab. The red Rescue panel opens; nothing else is locked.
Patient here: SpeleoMap sets up the rest for you.
Stand at the injured caver and tap it. SpeleoMap handles whatever is running and starts the Rescue line with a Patient station. Near a station, it asks first: Snap to that station, then patient here, or Patient here, no snap. It notes the time you left and asks the party count.
Going out: Shortest route out, when the entrance GPS is locked.
The Rescue line records the way you go. Tight spot marks squeezes for the litter team. With the entrance GPS, Way out draws the shortest route along the existing survey. Patient, Meet and Nearest route the same way. In new passage, or with no calibration, there's no route: just go.
At the entrance: The whole trip gets true bearings.
Tap AT ENTRANCE: the line ends and its last station is the entrance (ENT). Lock GPS and north. The whole trip gets true bearings, a hike line starts on its own, and its end at the car is the trailhead.
The 911 card: One screen for the emergency call.
The entrance GPS, the trailhead, the distance and depth to the patient, the time since you left, the party and the tight spots, ready to read out. Set Meet marks the station where the teams meet.
Share: Rescuers going in can route to the patient.
A two-page PDF for any phone, small enough to text, or the full survey to another SpeleoMap user by AirDrop. Rescuers going in route to the patient in the Navigator.
