North and Finding Your Way

The compass, lost north, and Go's NO SURVEY ROUTE.

"No steady compass here": Safe to ignore underground.

Why. The heading lock row in New Cave Line is a compass check only. Rock and metal often stop it settling underground.

Fix. Nothing to fix: it doesn't affect the line.

Lost north after a crash: Recover it from a station photo with Inherit calibration.

Why. A new workout can't lock north underground, so new lines wouldn't line up with the old ones.

Fix. Start a new workout (skip north), then tap Inherit calibration when you start the next Cave Line: pick a station from before the crash and face the way its photo does.

Go says NO SURVEY ROUTE: Follow the bearing or drop a station where passages meet.

Why. Lines join only at stations and line ends (within about 2 m level and 1 m height), and a route never jumps a gap wider than 3 m.

Fix. Follow the straight bearing it gives, or drop a station where two passages meet so they join next time.
